June 25th, 2020.

It is a very unique “summer solstice”(夏至) of lunar calendar this year because the annular solar eclipse can be observed in Taiwan today. If you miss it, the next one will be after 195 years later.

From 14:44:4 this afternoon, the “first contact” of solar eclipse will begin in Kinmen(金門)area, and the “last contact” can be seen at 17:26:43 in Taitung(台東). However, there will only be partial solar eclipses in Kaohsiung and Taipei area.

Well, it’s not too late to move to Taitung right now, or u can simply pour a glass of cool sparkling water with sake and watch the observatory live in a slow Sunday afternoon.
